PSA reopened a door this week. Monday it launches a tier called Standard: $59.99 a card, a $1,000 declared value cap, 90 to 100 business days. It is open to everybody, and it is not the Value tiers coming back. Those stay paused, and Standard orders queue up behind them ( PSA, Sept. 9, 2026 ).
Before the June pause, PSA's Value tiers ran from $24.99 to $64.99. The new cheap option opens near the top of the range it replaced. Two weeks after SGC took its entry grade from $18 to $50, here is where the floor actually sits.
| Where you can send a card Monday | Price | Value cap | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|---|
| PSA Standard (new) | $59.99 | $1,000 | 90–100 days |
| PSA Regular | $79.99 | $1,500 | 70–80 days |
| SGC Standard | $50 | $3,500 | 40+ days |
| CGC Standard | $55 | — | Varies |
Business days. PSA's four Value tiers remain suspended. Sources: psacard.com and Heavy , Sept. 9, 2026; SGC and CGC figures as published in Issue #21 , checked Sept. 2, 2026.
SGC is ten dollars cheaper, twice as fast, and takes a card worth three and a half times as much. PSA is selling you the label, which has always been true. The gap used to be smaller.
One more item under the same headline, and people are running the two together. PSA opens a Frankfurt facility Tuesday so collectors in the European Union can submit locally instead of shipping to North America ( Sports Illustrated, Sept. 9, 2026 ). That changes where you ship, not which tiers exist. Nothing about a submission from the States is different this week.
Full grading math in SGC Killed the $18 Grade and the Collector's Grading Guide . Now to the other thing that got expensive.
Every shop in the country is asking $525 for a box. The average one that sold on eBay went for $449.
2026 Bowman Chrome opened for pre-order August 10 at $299.99 and hit shelves Wednesday the 9th at $329.99 direct from Topps. Go looking for one now and the shelf price is $524.95 at DA Card World, Steel City and Midwest Cards, and $499.94 at Diamond Cards Online. That is the number in front of you when you shop.
Here is what boxes have actually sold for. Eight completed eBay sales over the last two weeks: a mean of $449.37, a median of $425.00, and a range from $395.00 to $599.99. Three of the eight went for under $425. One cleared the shelf price. On September 6 alone, two boxes closed at $395.00 and a third closed at $599.99, a two-hundred-dollar spread on the same product on the same day.

Sources: pre-order and release pricing via Checklist Insider ; shelf prices checked Sept. 11, 2026 at DA Card World ($524.95, in stock, limit 6), Steel City Collectibles ($524.95, in stock), Midwest Cards ($524.95, out of stock) and Diamond Cards Online ($499.94); completed sales via SportsCardsPro sold log, accessed Sept. 11, 2026; mean and median calculated from those eight sales. Read that sample carefully: seven of the eight closed before the September 9 release date and were presale boxes. The only sale on release day itself went for $470.00. Check live sold box comps here.
The shelf sits $99.95 above the median sale and $75.58 above the mean. Pay the asking price and you are paying a premium over everybody who waited for a completed listing, on a product where the high and low sales of the same day were two hundred dollars apart. And almost all of that sample is presale, which means the real post-release price is still being discovered right now, in public, with your money.
What you get for it: six packs, sixty cards, two autographs, against a checklist carrying 97 on-card 1st Bowman signatures. ShopCardHub put the problem in one line. Two autos per box, in a class where maybe five signatures matter, means most boxes return role players.
And the odds sheet still is not public. Three days after the product hit shelves, HobbyMonitor was still running its print-run breakdown with placeholders in it, waiting on Topps. The pull rates you are paying five hundred dollars to play against are not published anywhere you can read them.

The bye is gone. Last week this section said the top two seeds in the National League were Milwaukee and Atlanta. Los Angeles went on a six-game run and took the second one.
| National League, through Sept. 9 | Record |
|---|---|
| Milwaukee Brewers | 91-56 |
| Los Angeles Dodgers | 89-57 |
| Atlanta Braves | 85-61 |
| Philadelphia Phillies | 82-64 |
Sources: MLB.com standings and Baseball-Reference , through Sept. 9, 2026. Atlanta then beat Tampa Bay 3-1 on Sept. 10 to move to 86-61.
So the Phillies are at Truist this weekend and you are reading this in the middle of the series. It is no longer about a bye. It is about not letting a three-game division lead turn into a coin flip with fifteen to play. Atlanta dropped the first two to the Rays at home this week before MartÃn Pérez and Austin Riley saved the finale, which is not the form you want walking into Philadelphia.
Didier Fuentes is twenty-one years old and has been the steadiest arm in the Atlanta bullpen. A 2.34 ERA across 52 appearances, 65.1 innings, 84 strikeouts, a 1.07 WHIP, three saves. He debuted in 2025 at twenty, the youngest starter to debut for Atlanta since Mike McQueen in 1969, and this year the team moved him to relief and started handing him high-leverage innings.

The card angle: he is base card #7 in 2026 Bowman Chrome, a Tigers-rookie-adjacent slot right behind Kevin McGonigle at #6. JR Ritchie is in there too at #32. Two Atlanta rookie cards in the first thirty-two cards of the set, which is more than the Braves usually get in a prospect-first product.
Two cards, neither one a recommendation to buy. They are here because together they explain what that $525 box is selling you. The first is the best prospect in baseball, who has no autograph in this product. The second is the highest-rated 1st Bowman in the checklist, whose base card sold for less than a sandwich this week.
.270 2026 AVG, Double-A | 36 SB With 14 HR, 90 RBI | 19 Age, full year at AA |
Sources: stats via MiLB.com , accessed Sept. 10, 2026; ranking via MLB Pipeline Top 100 , Sept. 9, 2026.
A nineteen-year-old spent the entire season at Double-A Biloxi and hit .270 with a .345 on-base, 14 home runs and 36 stolen bases in 488 at-bats. He has been the number one prospect in baseball since May. He is in 2026 Bowman Chrome at BCP-244, plus a Stars of the Future insert and a Bowman GPK card.
He does not sign in this product. There is no Chrome Prospect Autograph for him. So the only Jesús Made card you can pull out of a $525 box is a base card or an insert.
.817 2026 OPS, Single-A | $5M Signing bonus, Jan. 2026 | 17 Age, full-season ball |
Sources: stats via MiLB.com , accessed Sept. 10, 2026; bonus and international ranking via MLB.com ; Top 100 debut via Sports Illustrated , March 29, 2026.
MLB Pipeline had him as the number one international prospect in the 2026 class. The Giants gave him $5 million in January, close to their entire pool. He skipped the Dominican Summer League entirely, hit a grand slam in his first professional game in the complex league, and finished the season at Single-A San Jose hitting .277 with a .350 on-base, 8 home runs and 54 RBI in 289 at-bats. He is seventeen. He turns eighteen in December.
He debuted at No. 99 on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 back in March, which makes him the only 1st Bowman in this release to crack a Top 100 at all. Wandy Asigen, Francisco Renteria and Angeibel Gomez are the next names down and none of them are on that list.
Put the actual prices next to each other and the product explains itself.

| Seth Hernandez 1st Bowman auto (2025 Bowman Draft #CPA-SH) | $176.00 | $760.00 |
| Luis Hernández 1st Bowman base (2026 Bowman Chrome #BCP-200) | $4.99, one sale | none yet |
Source: SportsCardsPro market prices and sales logs, accessed Sept. 10, 2026. Made's base card trades about three times a day; his auto about once a day. The Luis Hernández figure is a single best-offer sale on eBay, not a market.
The number one prospect in baseball has a 1st Bowman base card that trades for $6.65. His autograph trades for $353.70. Same player, same year, same product line, and the signature is worth fifty-three times the picture.
That ratio is the entire prospect hobby in one line, and it is why a sixty-card box with two autographs in it is not really a sixty-card box. It is two cards and fifty-eight pieces of confetti. When the two names you most want are an unsigned base card and a five-dollar rookie, $525 is buying you two lottery tickets against 97 other signatures, and the shop wants a hundred dollars over the last completed sale to sell you the ticket.
