Box FormatsHobby · Jumbo (HTA) · Value (Retail) · Mega (Retail)
Hit ConfigurationFlagship is not a per-box guaranteed-hit product. Across all autos + relics, Hobby averages roughly one hit every 3–4 boxes; Jumbo (HTA) is where hits concentrate, at ~10× the Hobby auto rate.

Box Format Comparison

Series 2 ships in four formats. Each has a different card count, hit guarantee, and set of exclusive parallels. Here's how they break down:

Hobby Box

~$175

20 packs × 12 cards + 1 Bonus Silver Pack · 12 boxes/case

Hits: No per-box hit guarantee on flagship. The most common auto (1991 Topps Auto) falls 1:346 packs; Major League Material relics 1:148. Combined, expect roughly one auto or relic every 3–4 boxes — treat hits as the chase, parallels and inserts as the bread and butter.

Exclusives: Yellow, Purple & Blue Rainbow Foils · Foilfractors

Best for: Set builders, traditional collectors

Jumbo Box (HTA)

~$240

10 packs × 40 cards + 2 Bonus Silver Packs · 6 boxes/case

Hits: Where the hits live. Auto odds run ~10× Hobby — 1991 Topps Autos 1:36, Baseball Stars 1:34, Real One 1:269 — plus Major League Material relics at 1:47. Realistically about one autograph per box on average, often with a relic alongside.

Exclusives: HTA Sandglitter parallels (1:2 packs) + Sandglitter color rainbow

Best for: Hit chasers, breakers

Value Box (Retail)

~$25

6 packs × 12 cards

Hits: Holo Foil base parallels (1:4 packs) plus Big Apple foil variations are the draw. No guaranteed autograph or premium relic — autos are a long-shot bonus.

Exclusives: Holo Foil rainbow · Big Apple foil variations (Gold, Orange, Black, Red, Rose Gold)

Best for: Casual collectors, younger fans

Mega Box (Retail)

~$50

14 packs × 14 cards

Hits: No guaranteed hit. The Mega-exclusive Crackle Foil parallels — on Stars of MLB and the 1991 Topps inserts (Crackle 1:4 packs) — are the primary chase. Autos possible but not guaranteed.

Exclusives: Crackle Foil parallels (1991 Topps, 1991 All-Star & Stars of MLB inserts) — Mega only

Best for: Parallel collectors, insert fans

Note on hit rates: The per-pack odds throughout this page are now the official figures from Topps' released sell sheet (June 2026). Box-level rates are calculated from those odds and confirmed pack counts. Always verify final rates on your pack wrapper — Topps occasionally adjusts insertion rates between announcement and production.

Parallels & Pack Odds

Think of parallels like different editions of the same book — same player, different cover. Series 2 has parallels across nearly every price point, from the easy-pull Rainbow Foils all the way to ultra-rare numbered singles. Below is a full breakdown by box format.

How to read this table

Odds = how often you pull one on average. Print run = total copies in existence. "Exclusive" means only available in that box format.

Insert Sets

Inserts are non-base cards with unique designs. They fall at specific rates and often have their own parallel rainbow. Short prints (SSP) are the toughest to pull — treat them as case-level chases.

1991 Topps Baseball (35th Anniversary)

All formats

Throwback to the iconic 1991 design and the most common insert in the set — 1:4 packs Hobby, 1:1 Jumbo. Crackle Foil parallels (1:4) are exclusive to Mega boxes. Junk-wax-era nostalgia at its finest.

1991 Topps All-Star Baseball

All formats

All-Star subset on the same retro 1991 template. Falls at the same clip — 1:4 Hobby, 1:1 Jumbo — with Mega-only Crackle Foil parallels.

Glove Work

All formats

Defense-themed insert celebrating elite glovework. A common pull at 1:6 Hobby / 1:2 Jumbo, with a full foil parallel rainbow (Pink, Blue, Green, Gold, and up).

Crooked Numbers

All formats

Big-stat-line theme. 1:16 Hobby / 1:4 Jumbo, with a deep foil parallel rainbow running up to a 1/1 Foilfractor.

Stars of MLB

Retail

Retail-focused insert featuring recognizable stars — essentially retail-only (Hobby does not carry it). Crackle Foil parallels in Mega. Wide availability makes it the entry-point insert.

Golden Mirror Image Variations

Hobby/Jumbo

Photo-variation chase on the base design at 1:718 Hobby / 1:216 Jumbo. A rarer Legend version drops around 1:28,000 Hobby.

Heavy Lumber

SSP

Wood-grain card stock highlighting elite power hitters. A genuine short print at 1:2,800 Hobby / 1:840 Jumbo — with rare autograph relic variations (1:7,325 Hobby).

Home Field

SSP

City-themed background art tied to each player's home market. One of the most visually creative inserts and a true short print: 1:3,499 Hobby / 1:1,050 Jumbo. Case-level chase.

All Aces

SSP

Playing-card-inspired showcase for elite pitchers. The toughest insert in the set at roughly 1:14,000 Hobby — effectively a case-level (or rarer) pull.

Autographs & Relics

Flagship doesn't promise a hit in every box — the released odds make that clear. In Hobby, even the most common autograph (1991 Topps Autos) lands about 1 in 346 packs, so plan on roughly one auto or relic every 3–4 boxes. Jumbo (HTA) carries the same hit pool at far friendlier odds. Here's the full hit pool with official Hobby / Jumbo pack odds, ordered from most to least common:

On-card autos on the retro 1991 design — the most common signature in the set. Hobby 1:346 · Jumbo 1:36.
